Sydney has won the bid to host the 2023 edition of the WorldPride festival, an international LGBTIQA+ pride event. To be held over February and March of 2023, it will overlap the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

The results were announced at a ceremony in Athens on Sunday where Sydney secured 60% of votes from members of InterPride, the umbrella group for international pride events.

NSW Arts Minister Don Harwin said the event will “put Sydney on the world map as a truly inclusive and united global city.”
