Now accessible by high-speed rail, Gānsù has really opened up in recent years, hosting ancient silk road attractions and the westernmost parts of the Great Wall, built in the Ming Dynasty. Be sure to view the surreal rainbow-stiped mountains in Zhangye Danxia National Geopark.
