While the ever-growing music industry continues to bring us new offerings, be it in hot new artists or even the whole new music genres, numerous music festivals continue to pop up across Georgia, trying to accommodate different tastes and gather different crowd. Sheer number of these events, makes even the researching music festivals very immersive and time consuming experience. So, here are some of the heavyweights you don’t want to miss:
GEM Fest / 14.07.2017–14.08.2017 — an international electronic music festival, held in Anaklia. The abbreviation GEM stands for Georgian Electronic Music Festival and plays with the real meaning of the word gem.
According to the organizers: “..We want our festival to bring together not only the most lustrous and renowned pearls from all over the world, but also a handful of uncut diamonds; we want to provide a platform for the realization of unbridled artistic potential and help to uncover the priceless gem that is hidden in every artistic talent. What we are doing can be summed up in just one phrase: ‘It’s an absolute gem!”
International Black Sea Jazz Festival — Sun, sea and sounds were on the menu at the Black Sea jazz festival in Batumi. Every July the quiet seaside resort in Georgia is transformed into a hub for music lovers. The festival is usually held on Batumi Tennis Courts while after parties take place in different clubs throughout the city.
One Caucasus — Annual International Festival One Caucasus is an interdisciplinary festival and a long-term borderland program that first took a place in Georgia in 2014. One Caucasus Festival brings together musicians, artists, architects, educators and volunteers from all over the world.
Organizers of this festival offer premiere shaded woods camping. The campground has been cleared and updated over the years and is truly a welcoming, nice atmosphere to camp in.
Tbilisi Open Air — an annual international music festival, with the emphasis on electronic and rock music, first held in Tbilisi, Georgia, on 15–17 May 2009. After that the festival is organized each year and is widely considered as the biggest music festival in the Caucasus region. The festival mainly maintains several-day outdoor event format.
Art Gene Festival — Presenting a True Feast of Georgian Culture. Every summer in July the Art Gene Festival awaits Georgians and foreigners alike.
Meanwhile the seven-day outdoor festival will offer demonstrations in martial arts, handicrafts, folk dance choreography, instrumental music, poetry and arts and crafts from various regions of Georgia.
