Remarkably authentic and undeniably intriguing, Georgia is filled with endless experiences that are calling you. With so much beauty to behold, it’s not that easy to choose which spots are the best to travel to — but this list will help 👇

  1. Dartlo, Tusheti

When you arrive in Dartlo, you feel transported back in time. Dartlo village is situated 2,000 meters above sea level by the Alazani River, on the northern slope of the Greater Caucasus Mountains. It is distinguished by its vernacular architecture with dry masonry and stone-slated roofs, where residents have sustained their ancestors’ culture and pattern of life.

2. Ushguli, Svaneti

Preserved by its long isolation, Ushguli is an exceptional example of mountain scenery with medieval-type villages and tower-houses.

3. Kazbegi

This is most people’s destination on the Georgian Military Hwy: a valley town with the famous hilltop silhouette of Tsminda Sameba Church and the towering snowy cone of Mt Kazbek looking down from the west. Now officially named Stepantsminda, but still commonly known as Kazbegi, it’s a base for some wonderful walking and mountain biking.

4. Juta

Whether you’re backpacking through the hills with lightweight tents or looking for a place for your campervan, be sure, that campsite in Juta will suit all your needs. Once you’ve settled in, you can get out and explore the surroundings, there are equally pleasant walks to be done around.

7. Mtskheta

The ancient capital of Georgia. The city is very small and is just a 20 minute drive from the capital of Tbilisi.

8. Adishi, Svaneti

There is no better way to experience the nature, culture and history of Svaneti than a visit to Adishi. Being isolated for most of the year, Adishi is a microversion of what Upper Svaneti is all about.
