How to Write for Authentic Solopreneurs Publication
Please follow these submission guidelines
*Updated on April 7, 2021.
Welcome to the Authentic Solopreneurs publication! 🎉🎉🎉
This is a dedicated space for you to share soulful insights and tips with fellow authentic solopreneurs.
We welcome Medium writers who are also solopreneurs serving their active service-based businesses. You could be a freelance editor, an author, a coach, a healer, or a spiritual teacher, and you believe in sharing some of your experience and wisdom in a TED talk manner, with a wider audience.
Just leave a response under this story and I will add you as a writer. You will then be able to see your role as a writer for this publication in your list of Publications.
Here’s an official Medium help article showing you how to add your draft to a publication.
We mainly accept unpublished drafts and will publish one story per writer per day. Your unpublished drafts could be sourced from your previous website blog posts or social media posts.
Occasionally, we will also accept published articles that have been published for less than two weeks.
Share Your Bio in a Shortform story
When you have been added as a writer for this publication, please write a quick Shortform story that is within 150 words, to share a little about your solopreneur business and links. Please include the tag “bio” so I can keep them all under a specific tab here. Here is my example.
And here's some quick technical information on how you can write Shortform on Medium.
Guidelines for Your Articles Here
After you’ve published your Shorform biography, do read through these guidelines for your articles here:
Topics/Tags
You are welcome to share with fellow solopreneurs on advice such as:
- How to build and grow a sustainable business.
- How to lean into the discomfort of needing to be more visible on social media as you share your wisdom and promote your offerings.
- How to manage your time and energy while navigating both family and business life.
- Some of the life lessons you have learned along the way.
We welcome articles on these topics— Marketing, Social Media, Productivity, Mindfulness, Spirituality, Money, Startup, and Work.
Formatting guidelines
You will need to have these 3 basic items in each story that you submit:
- Title: written in AP-style title case. Use this handy link to check your capitalization.
- Subtitle: written in sentence case without closing punctuation.
- Feature Image: in landscape orientation just below the subtitle.
Please include proper credit in the caption.
Please ensure that you have permission to use these images. Some great sources of free images include Unsplash, Pexels, and Pixabay.
Here’s an example:

For more detailed instructions on how to format the title, subtitle, and primary and secondary headers on Medium, do check out this official Medium article. For standardizing purposes, we will use AP-style title case for primary headers, and sentence case for secondary headers.
What not to include
- Please do not have bold sentences like this one. You can italicize certain phrases or sentences like this. Do use the appropriate formatting for primary and secondary headers.
- Do not have words that are ALL CAPS. It comes across as shouting.
- Do not add requests for readers to buy your services and products. You can add a link to your Shortform Bio so they can check out your business links if they’re interested.
- Please add a disclaimer if you’re including affiliate links.
- We do not publish any rants and complaints. Please keep your articles helpful and uplifting.
- Please ensure that you do not breach any of your clients’ confidentiality and privacy. Share in a way that is respectful and professional.
My Role as an Editor Here
Please ensure that you have your Private Notes function enabled so that our editors can communicate with you. Just go to Settings →Account →Allow Private Notes. Make sure that this is “On” for you.
Please proofread your articles to correct spelling and grammar errors. You can try out some free tools such as Grammarly and ProWriting Aid.
As this publication’s editor, I will:
- check for formatting, and any obvious spelling and grammar errors.
- highlight text that is formatted in a distracting way, and ask you to change it.
- lookout for excessive promotional text, and ask you to tone it down. Generally, it is acceptable to include a newsletter link for readers to subscribe to.
Please allow up to 48 hours for me to respond to your drafts, and we might go a little back-and-forth for a couple of days if there’s any editing that needs to be made. If there are too many errors, I will ask you to correct them on your own.
Please feel free to leave a response or private note if you have further questions.
I hope that this publication will help spread the word about your expertise and wisdom in your authentic and soulful businesses!
