3 years is a long period…. It is like a decade if you are in India and in the payments domain.

The simple UPI has become omnipresent and omnipotent. UPI has spread wings and is flying abroad.

The Cards space also saw tremendous changes.

RBI issued new guidelines for credit cards, including co-branded credit cards.

Transaction limits were updated for UPI, UPI Lite, NACH, AutoPay, IMPS.

While we were catching up on new products, processes and policies, RBI launched the new type of money i.e. eRupee — CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency)

Business models evolved not only by market forces but also by regulations of RBI and other regulators; Digital lending guidelines came into effect (read here), and fund movement for Mutual Funds changed (read here). BPSP (read here) is stopped.

In June 2021, all existing and would-be online payment aggregators were rushing to meet the PA application deadline of Sept-2021. And today, PA-O licence has become the second powerful licence that will allow a licensed entity to operate online PA (of course), PA-Cross Border (Import and/or export), BBPOU (COU and/or BOU), and PA-Offline (almost there).

Not just in India, the payments domain is changing across the globe.

We are seeing the rise of RTP (Real Time Payment) rails, domestic card networks, and CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency).

On one hand, countries are working on sovereign payment infrastructures, data localisation and data protection of their citizens, and on the other hand, want to expand internationally and increase cross-border trade and payments.

Countries are working on linking their respective RTPs and CBDCs to create cross-border payment highways. Vroom!

You see… A lot has changed since I published the book — Auth N Capture.

The first book did tremendously well (for a payments book).

It was trending at #2 on Amazon under the Business category. Thousands of people read it and hundreds of people messaged me saying that it helped them with their job and clearing job interviews. People across experience levels and functions appreciated the simplicity of the book.

I sincerely thank each one of you who read the book and the blog.

So here I am, with the Revised Edition of the Auth N Capture.

The book is available on Amazon (India) and Flipkart. Coming soon on Kindle, Amazon (.com and .uk), Flipkart, Kobo, Google Play.
