1. RAISING A MASS SHOOTER (Omaha, Nebraska)

From an early age, something was different about Robbie Hawkins. His father Ron and stepmother Candace had to contend with Robbie’s explosive rage. Medication and psychiatric treatment made little difference: Robbie even attempted to poison his stepmother by putting rat poison in her drink. After years of enduring Robbie’s abuse, Candace and Ron divorced, and Candace moved out.

On December 5, 2007, Robbie, then 19, entered the Westroads Mall in Omaha. At a Von Maur department store, he opened fire, killing eight people before turning the gun on himself. In an interview on the show “Evil Lives Here,” Candace said, “The word ‘sorry’ doesn’t even touch how I feel to the victims and their families, and everybody that has been affected by this.”
