Do you ever wake up in the morning feeling unhappy, unfulfilled, unchallenged, and have nothing to look forward to? It doesn’t have to be that way.

Here are 9 great tips that you can begin with, to help fill your life with a “Joie De Vivre”, a ravenous thirst for life.

Don’t look at the phone until at least an hour after you wake up

Don’t look at the phone until at least an hour after you wake up! Again, your brain isn’t totally awake, yet, first thing in the morning. Looking at a smartphone is like turning a firehose on. Your mind gets overwhelmed, and all of a sudden you’re in fight or flight mode, which may last the rest of your day. — Veronica Kirin

Let go of all expectations about how happiness has to arrive

Pressure-free happiness. I let go of all expectations about how happiness has to knock on my door because I know that expectations create pressure, and pressure is the opposite of feeling good. Happiness shows up in many ways, shapes, and sizes. My breath is happiness — making my beautiful life possible. My blood pumping through my veins is happiness — keeping me alive. My smile is happiness — spreading “Joie De Vivre” far and wide, and so are my tears — as cleansers of my energy; or my anger — a powerful and forceful energy that I can use to clean my house or wash my car as an amazing push to get things done. As for my wishes and dreams, I vividly visualize and feel them, then go on living as they already are, while living gratefully in my now. — Jacqueline Pirtle

Travel

Travel outside your zip code, travel outside your country, and most importantly- travel outside your comfort zone once in awhile. Go see how other people live and learn from their culture. You’ll probably see very quickly how Americans tend to over-complicate things and why they are ranked much higher on that World Happiness Report. — Marcello Pedalino

Art & Creative activities

Creative activities for my own healing and joy! Art is one of my favorite healers.

Prayer

I pray every day- In the morning I give thanks to God for my blessings and ask the angels to surround me as I go through the day. Knowing that I have the protection and support of my Divine team is uplifting and gives me a sense of purpose and strength greater than my own. — Dr. Paulette Sherman

Start your day with a luxurious stretch

Start your day with a luxurious stretch. Some days boosting your mood can be a little hard, so give yourself a head-start with a two-minute stretch while still in bed. It’s amazing how much your body can affect your brain. Stretch out your arms and legs to make you feel victorious and alive and allow your mood to follow. — Maryna Shkvorets

Family

Motherhood has transformed my view of the world, our culture, and my role as a woman and custodian of my child. It may sound trite, but I can’t effectively describe the importance I place on protecting, nourishing, and encouraging my almst 3-year-old daughter. I want to show her every amazing thing the world has to offer; I want to be a strong and excellent role model for her; and I want to make the world a better place for her. She is truly the joy of my life, and is often literally the main reason I’m out of bed in the morning. — Dr. Inessa Fishman

Wake up early & do a short yoga routine

Every morning I wake up early before anyone else in the house and I get some private time to myself. I do a short yoga routine to greet the sun and then I do a short meditation. I then write in my journal all the feelings and aspects of myself I want to exude that day. I then go over each one slowly and focus on each feeling. Lastly I do a visualization of a day in my ideal life and what everything looks like and feels like as if I am actually living it. Then I grab my coffee and start my day. I feel like this morning routine really helps me stay grounded and on purpose throught the day. I used to so easily get derailed when I would look at my Instagram feed. Having this routine really makes me fall in-love with my own life. — Dr. Sarah Jebreil

Serve Others

Serve Others — Volunteering (animal rescue) saved me from a deep depression. Doing for other helps you step out of your own problems. Even when you feel like you can’t save yourself, you can save someone else. — Sheryl Green
