Attorney Andrea Vacca says, once you start a divorce proceeding in New York state, you cannot go after your spouse for monies earned, regardless of the amount.

One of Hollywood’s favorite tough guys is starring in a new role and one he probably wishes didn’t garner attention or publicity. Actor/Director Robert DeNiro and his estranged wife, Grace Hightower have been in the middle of a divorce since the couple decided to call it quits in December 2018. Like most people who decide to split, the biggest obstacle everyone faces, including the De Niro’s — dividing the money, the assets and agreeing to who gets what. In the De Niro’s situation, Hightower wanted half of the two-time Oscar winner’s $500-million fortune the movie star earned from his career and business ventures. But a Manhattan Judge didn’t see it that way and told De Niro and his legal team, it’s his for the keeping.
