Kym Gold of True Religion Jeans and Style Union Home: “Why We Had A Really Positive Gripe Session Every Wednesday”

At True Religion we had a gripe session every Wednesday. It wasn’t negative. It was a safe space for women to come together and have a discussion about what’s going on, so that there would be an easier flow with our team. That way everybody could be transparent and really be open about personal issues to understand what’s going on. It’s important because us women are sensitive. We have a monthly situation and we have all sorts of emotions and things going on but we can understand each other because we’re women. It was my way of making it a safe environment.

As a part of my series about strong female leaders, I had the pleasure of interviewing Kym Gold. Kym is the original Co-founder/Designer for True Religion Brand Jeans. Kym’s vision as a designer was also a driving force behind the high fashion, designer denim revolution in the early 2000’s which created a disruption in the denim
