Beating Burnout: Rachel Shackleton On The 5 Things You Should Do If You Are Experiencing Work Burnout

Listen to your body: Your body tells you when things are not going well by encouraging more sleep, random aches and pains for no apparent reason, sweet or salty food cravings and diminished mental capacity. These signals show long before burnout occurs. Learning to listen to your body is very important to hearing the messages and responding by taking your “foot off the pedal” to rejuvenate and replenish energy stores. You can only put a sticking plaster on the situation for so long and then if not making a change to the pressure you put yourself under, the body will take over, which is exactly what happened in my case.

Millions of Americans are returning back to work after being home during the pandemic. While this has been exciting for many, some are feeling burned out by their work. What do you do if you are feeling burned out by your work? How do you reverse it? How can you “get your mojo back”? What can employers do to help their staff reverse burnout?
