Behind the scenes of D-Railed with actress/Associate Producer Val McAdoo

Val is a Mother of two who grew up in Philadelphia. She used to act when she was younger, then a year and a half ago she decided to get back into the business not just as an actress, but as an Associate Producer. For the film “D-Railed”, she oversaw Production Coordination for the scenes that were shot in Philadelphia. Her latest role is playing the character of the waitress Camille in the fantasy/thriller “D-Railed”, starring sci-fi icon Lance Henriksen.

“D-Railed” is currently on the film festival circuit and has won many awards including five Platinum awards from the International Independent Film Awards in the following categories: Concept, Costumes, Sound Design/Editing, Cinematography and Directing. It has been nominated for Best Practical FX at the PDXtreme film festival in January.

What was it about D-Railed that was appealing to you:

I was immediately interested in the story line and wanting to know more about it. I liked all of the metaphors that were in the film — what the story was really about. And then there was an opportunity to get involved, especially with me being in Philly and the possibility of shooting some of it here.

What drew you to the character:

She’s kind of similar to my personality. I’m kind of the hostess of a lot of things, making people feel comfortable, making sure everyone’s okay.

What did you do to prepare for the role?

Just memorize my lines.

What were some of the challenges of the shoot:

As the Associate Producer/Production Coordinator, I was in L.A. shooting meanwhile I’m calling the guys back home to make sure that the train is being built! From an actor’s point of view, the biggest challenge was shooting at night. The exhaustion of it all. And being in that train car, it got really hot in there!
