Get a realistic picture of your spending. In planning for their spending needs and wants, retirees usually have done a pretty good job accounting for their regular household bills like utilities, groceries, and gas for the car. There are other costs, however, that can be easily overlooked because they may not show up each month. You might take an extra vacation or have more visits to the kids and grandkids (especially in the early “go go” years of retirement).
