For three seasons Burt Ward played the superhero “Robin” on the TV series “Batman.” Although the show was short-lived on the small screen, those two characters dressed in a cape, a mask and a pair of tights became so popular in reruns and syndication it made Ward a household name. After “Batman” wrapped in 1968, many small parts on television followed. However, nothing could prepare Ward for the starring role he is most proud of and headlines today. As Ward jokingly puts it, “I went from the Caped Crusader to the Canine Crusader.” Ward is the founder of a company called “Gentle Giants,” a healthy dog food and rescue center.
