Prioritize Employee Concerns: I once worked for a salon owner eager to hire anyone who applied. However, when someone I had previously worked with — a less-than-stellar employee — applied, I expressed my concerns. Unfortunately, my concerns were met with blank stares, leaving me feeling invisible. To my surprise, that person was hired, disrupted the salon’s culture, and eventually left. In hindsight, I wish I had felt honored and heard in that moment. As a result, I now prioritize listening to team members who come to us with grievances about their colleagues
