Disconnect for a period of time each day, from any electronic devices or social media, and take pleasure in simply focusing on being present with all the natural wonders of the world that surround us. Spend as much time in nature as possible, grounding your body/energy with the earth’s energy, whether it be with earth/soil, sand at the beach, or with the element of water, finding peace in the understanding that we are all interconnected as one. This allows you to establish firmly grounded foundations, and draw inspiration and empowerment from the very energy that flows through all living things and is at the very essence of the energy that flows within you.

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us the “backstory” about what brought you to this specific career path?

From a very young age, l was extremely creative, intuitive, inquisitive and empathic, and this was graciously encouraged. I developed a great passion for the Arts, Writing and Travel, and I loved to immerse myself in exploring the many beautiful ways we are able to communicate, express ourselves and connect with each other. I had always felt an immense amount of empathy, compassion and connection to all life, not only humanity but also the environment and the animal kingdom. It was these feelings and insight that continued to shape my journey over the years. I was always aware that there was so much more to our world than that beyond what we were able to see through our physical vision, and that we were all interconnected as one.

I was blessed to be able to spend many years traveling the world developing my spiritual path under leading masters in many various practices and traditions, deepening my spirituality. I began to understand the great importance of knowing that no matter what difficulties l was experiencing in my life (whether it be in relationships, grief, bullying, or the great health challenges l found myself facing), that when l empowered myself to choose to live my life from a place of love, hope, truth, compassion, understanding, peace, kindness and consciousness — anything was possible.

It was in fact during the most difficult times, following a devastating accident l had when l was 21, that these choices would serve me best. I organized campaigns to raise awareness for my condition and also volunteered on a support line. The fulfillment, joy, passion, and purpose, l received and gave while helping others, merely confirmed my deep desire to share this simple but profound message.

After the accident in my early 20’s and a subsequent life-changing healing experience, l went on to experience my own enlightenment and followed the path to my true spiritual calling, establishing The Spiritual Owl, where l am able through my work to share my important message with as many people as possible.

According to a 2006 Pew Research Report report, 26% of women and 21% of men feel that they are “always rushed.” Has it always been this way? Can you give a few reasons regarding what you think causes this prevalent feeling of being rushed?

In essence, l don’t feel that we are necessarily any busier now then the generations that have come before us.

I do feel however that the fast pace of our modern world, together with a need for constant accessibility, and the expectations on humanity, our environment and the animal kingdom (that come from choosing to live this way) has left many people feeling disconnected, ungrounded, and overwhelmed, often with a lack of sense of direction or fulfilled purpose.

Unable to feel as if they have the time to be present and conscious about what’s most important to them, because they are too busy trying to keep up, from moment to moment, merely feeling as though they are being swept along. Therefore, not feeling as though they have the ability to empower their own journeys to find the harmony and balance, they truly desire in their lives.

Based on your experience or research can you explain why being rushed can harm our productivity, health, and happiness?

When we are ungrounded, disconnected, and are not allowing for time to quieten and still our minds (in order to be present), we can become distracted, experiencing a lack of awareness, confidence and self-empowerment in our choices and decisions, feeling at times as if someone else is guiding our journeys.

If we become so caught up in all of the things that we have chosen to busy and fill our lives with every day, that really are not essentially of great value to us, we can often become unaware of making time to have the conciseness to care about what really matters most — our connection to each other.

To flourish and thrive, we need to have an awareness of the importance of compassion, empathy, and kindness not only towards ourselves but towards all life, and the nature that surrounds us here on our home earth.

I often refer to our energy flowing like a beautiful river, when we place rocks in the river it creates a dam, stopping the water from being able to flow, we often unconsciously create many blocks through our emotional, spiritual and physical states of being. Keeping our energy flowing is essential, for a fulfilled life, and journey of wellbeing for us all.

On the flip side, can you give examples of how we can do more, and how our lives would improve if we could slow down?

Taking accountability for how you chose to spend your time empowers you with the ability to understand that we all have as much time as we allow ourselves in our daily lives, and we are responsible for how we chose to spend it.

If you make a decision to be somewhere, let that decision come from a place of love and gratitude, and then make the most of that time without resentment (it’s precious!).

When we accept this and realize no one else is guiding our journey — our stories and destinations can be whatever we chose them to be. We then give ourselves the opportunity to create the life we truly would love to live, without fear, doubt and insecurity but instead with confidence and possibility.

We all live in a world with many deadlines and incessant demands for our time and attention. That inevitably makes us feel rushed. Can you share with our readers 5 strategies that you use to “slow down to do more”? Can you please give a story or example for each?

· A daily meditation practice gives us the ability to quieten the mind and create a deep connection within, with increased awareness, clarity, and renewed perspective. When you allow for time to be still and quietly and patiently observe, and listen to your inner compass and guide, you re-awaken the trust in your ability to know you have all the answers already dwelling within you, re-discovering your inner wisdom, to live in harmony and balance with yourself on your own unique journey and with the rest of the world.

· Conserving your energy by making choices of how you chose to live your life from a place of love and your truth, allows you to replenish your possibilities, to embrace change and adapt to new chapters of your journey.

· At the beginning of each day, take a few minutes to be present with what is most important to you in your life, what makes your heart and soul sing with joy. Try writing a gratitude journal each morning, simply noting down at least 3 three of those things in your life that you are grateful for, bringing awareness, to that which gives you fulfillment in your life. Ensure then to incorporate some aspect of these chosen joy’s and passions, being happy, doing what you love and being you, into your daily life.

· Disconnect for a period of time each day, from any electronic devices or social media, and take pleasure in simply focusing on being present with all the natural wonders of the world that surround us.

· I feel if we could rest in the knowledge that the ultimate definition of success is peace within, it would give us a very different perspective on our relationship with time and how we chose to spend it.

How do you define “mindfulness”? Can you give an example or story?

To me mindfulness is a way of being, choosing to live from a place of love, peace, hope, truth, non-judgment, empathy, kindness, understanding, consciousness and compassion towards all life.

The example of this is all around us, in the present and in our history books, when we chose to live mindfully from this place of love, we can experience joy, happiness, connection, and most importantly peace for all.

Can you give examples of how people can integrate mindfulness into their everyday lives?

I feel that the most powerful way we can integrate mindfulness into every aspect of our daily lives is once again by choosing to live mindfully, moment to moment, whether it’s at the grocery store, in business interactions, or in your personal life.

Be mindful not to judge others, try instead to listen, understand and empathize with their journeys.

Speak your truth with yourself and with others from a place of love and kindness. From the simplest to the most difficult of conversations, we can choose to be mindful with the words we use, always be aware of the impact those words are having on both your journey and with those you encounter, and the vibration they are sending out collectively into the world.

Open your heart and mind to the awareness of the greater picture than that which you only see in front of you. For when we can see the world through the eyes of our own hearts, and realize we are all interconnected as one, that’s when inspirational change can truly occur on a level of hope and peace.

Do you have any mindfulness tools that you find most helpful at work?

Meditation is one of the most valuable ways that you can connect with your Intuition and Inner Wisdom. Setting aside even 10–15 minutes each day, to meditate, can help guide you home to seek your answers within.

Creating a vision board (also known as a mood board) can be an inspirational way to mindfully manifest aspirations and goals, for your life purpose/ work, an illuminating visual reminder of your true hearts’ desires. Its philosophy is based around the Law of Attraction theory, that when we focus on what we desire, we will attract it, allowing you a beautiful opportunity to create with clarity your dreams, hopes, wishes and ambitions.

What are your favorite books, podcasts, or resources that inspire you to use mindfulness tools or practices?

My inspiration and resources, continue to come from the diverse array of people, nature and animals l have encountered on my journey. The places l have traveled to, and the many experiences l’ve had, seen and shared with others. The valuable lessons l have learned and the ones l continue to learn from, together with the wisdom of the visionaries of peace, who will always continue to shine their bright light’s with the world through their teachings, inspiring and reminding us all of the importance of choosing to live mindfully from a place of love.

Can you please give us your favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share how that was relevant to you in your life?

I was recently asked how l have kept myself motivated, despite the health challenges and many difficulties l have experienced in my life (and indeed that we all may find ourselves facing at times). My answer was very simple and one of my daily affirmations.

“I remain motivated in the knowing and trust of my empowered ability to wisely manifest my visualizations, intentions, and aspirations.”

In the knowledge that l am guiding my own journey, and have the freedom to navigate my way to my own destinations, has and continues to empower me with the confidence and courage to always keep moving forward, continuing to write the story of the life l want to live, a life full of endless possibilities.

You are a person of great influence. If you could inspire a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger!

To inspire and encourage everyone to “Let the Gift of Kindness be Your Daily Practice.”

For kindness to be the daily message we all share with the world, for all we do in this life to be done as an act of kindness to humanity, the animal kingdom and our home, planet earth, for our voices to be the voices of kindness and for our life purposes to be filled with kindness.

I believe we can truly transform our lives and the lives of others through the power of kindness, with empathy and compassion we can create a positive light that will ripple throughout the world, to allow all life in this world to know that they matter, they are understood, loved and never to be forgotten. Through kindness, we are able to bring hope for us all.

Thank you so much for these insights! This was so inspiring!

Thank you very much, it was an absolute pleasure speaking with you.
