Divorce Coach Kara Francis says, a divorce party should center on your accomplishments, your success and your strength.

Why would you throw a party? The obvious response is you are celebrating something special such as a Birthday, Communion, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Sweet 16, Graduation, or a Wedding/Anniversary. Back in 2003, people started to throw themselves a “Divorce Party” and the trend continues to grow. Now, there are also “Divorce Showers” and “Divorce Registries.” If you think divorce is something to be embarrassed of and cry over for years…THINK AGAIN! Some people go on fabulous trips with their friends, hire a party planner, a DJ or get all dressed up the day their marriage is officially and legally dissolved. The whole idea behind the “Divorce Party” concept is to change the perception of what “divorce” is. Just like the other milestones I listed, friends and family should honor how far a person has come in their journey from a “married status” to a “single status” and toast to the endless possibilities of where they are going.
