Say no to homework. Research has been telling us for years that homework doesn’t help students achieve more, so why are we still doing homework? I think tradition is part of the reason and maybe fear that their children won’t succeed if they don’t do homework. Let’s all agree that homework doesn’t help our students become more successful. I highly recommend reading Alfie Kohn’s book, The Homework Myth or any of his blog posts. He writes thoughtful pieces for educators and parents/caregivers to read. He helps me imagine a different way of being in our schools for children and their families.
