One of the many fun things about getting engaged (aside from staring at the shiny rock on your finger) is going on a free shopping spree. Couples spend hours picking out dishes, pots, pans, picture frames and luggage by registering at their favorite stores such as Crate & Barrel, Bed Bath Beyond, Target, Amazon and Bloomingdales. While you and your fiancé are walking around with clipboard and a Zapper to ping all the items you envision filling your new home with as a married couple, your family and friends can log on to your “Wish List” and purchase something you put on there as a gift. When you are going through a divorce, some of those “things” you couldn’t wait to unwrap may not be yours anymore, because in a divorce, they will be divided between you and your “ex.” Fret not, because there is a clever way to replace them and have them delivered “brand new” right to your front door.
