Leadership is the act of listening and learning as a means of achieving a collective goal within a community of like-minded individuals. Leadership is the act of practicing patience over productivity. Leadership is service at its core.

As a part of my series about leaders helping to make the entertainment industry more diverse and representative, I had the distinct pleasure of interviewing Ebonie Smith.

Ebonie Smith is an award-winning music producer, audio engineer and singer-songwriter. She is a 10-year in-house engineer at Atlantic Records, and the founder and President of Gender Amplified Inc., a camp experience that supports women and gender non-binary in music production and audio engineering. Smith received Grammy Certificates for her work on ‘Hamilton’ (Original Broadway Cast Recording), Janelle Monáe’s Grammy-nominated album ‘Dirty Computer’ and Cardi B’s Grammy-winning album ‘Invasion to Privacy.’ Other top artists Ebonie has worked with include Charlie Puth, Ms. Lauryn Hill, The Roots, Kodak Black, Zoe Kravitz and many more. Ebonie holds a Master’s Degree in music
