Mental Health expert Bonnie Scott says, divorce is one of the biggest stress factors a person can face. For members of the LGBTQ community, that stress can feel even greater because there are still people who are not accepting and share unnecessary, negative comments.

When you are planning your wedding, the rehearsal dinner, and a honeymoon, no one is thinking about, “I wonder when we will get a divorce,” because the word divorce is not part of your vocabulary. It doesn’t matter if you are a heterosexual or same-sex couple…love is love. When you are reciting your vows to the one person you can’t be without, “divorce” is not part of your lexicon. Unfortunately, that fairy tale story doesn’t always turn out they way we want it to, even for same sex couples. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2019 there were approximately 980,000 same-sex couple households in the United States and about 58% of those couples were married. Nationally, the U.S. Census Bureau says, 53.4% of same sex married couples were female and 46.6% were male. When it
