Self-care- Understanding our bodies is a key component to unlocking the true essence of our intuition. Move your BODY!

Intuition is defined as the ability to understand something immediately without the need for conscious reasoning. Where does intuition come from? Can it be trusted? How can someone tune in to their intuition? To address these questions, we are talking to business leaders, coaches, mental health experts, authors, and anyone who is an authority on “How to Get In Touch With Your Intuition And When To Trust Your Intuition When Making Decisions.” As a part of this series, I had the pleasure of interviewing Renee Manzolillo.

Thank you so much for doing this with us! Before we start, our readers would love to “get to know you” a bit better. Can you tell us a bit about your childhood backstory?

I was lucky to be raised in a loving family that focused on integrity and the importance of a strong work ethic. As the only girl, growing up with my two brothers I noticed early on that my internal intuition was something to lean on. I allowed my internal guide and my tenacious spirit to lead me to success in dance and gymnastics during my childhood.

Can you please give us your favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share how that was relevant to you in your life?

My parents were very influential in my confidence. They would always tell me, “Every day in every way I only get better and better!” This quote quickly became my mantra that I would go to when faced with adversity. As a mom, I tell my three boys “Lead; don’t follow — be great.”

Is there a particular book, podcast, or film that made a significant impact on you? Can you share a story or explain why it resonated with you so much?

While I love to read, I get the most impact from my everyday experiences with others. I utilize my everyday connections and conversations to help shape my perception of life.

Let’s now shift to the main part of our discussion. Let’s begin with a definition of terms so that each of us and our readers are on the same page. What exactly does intuition mean? Can you explain?

Intuition is a clear knowing, it’s that gut-wrenching feeling of certainty, without reason. Intuition doesn’t need a reason as it stems from our consciousness as well as our collective consciousness. It’s energy from a source of a higher power.

How would you define common sense? Are intuition and common sense related?

No, they are not related. Common sense is the practical understanding of everyday perception.

Intuition stems from our senses. It is a sensation that can be felt, seen, heard, smelled, and tasted. You can also experience this through touch, and emotion.

How are they different from each other?

Intuition is perception without reason, while common sense is conventional wisdom. The main difference is the choice you make.

I often ask myself “Am I leading from a place of intuitive feel or am I making choices with my logical brain”.

What are the positive aspects of being in touch with your intuition? Can you give a story or example to explain what you mean?

Since the age of nine, I have leaned on my intuition and trusted the direction. During my gymnast days, I broke my back. Seventeen doctors told me I needed a spinal fusion, but my intuition said a clear “no”. I’m grateful that I listened to my intuition. Nearly twenty years after the accident, I have fully healed my back.

Are there negative aspects to being guided by intuition?

Yes. Intuition can create an internal tug. It can also take you out of being in the moment, leading to overthinking which can quickly drain your positive energy.

Can you give a story or example to explain what you mean?

When your intuition speaks it’s not always a reason or explanation people want to hear. This can strain relationships. Those who are meant for me will hear me differently and those who are not can no longer exist in my circle.

Can you give some guidance about when one should make a decision based on their intuition and when one should use other methods to come to a decision?

Depending upon how advanced a person’s skill set and ability to decipher is, a person with the energetic sixth sense should always listen to their inner knowing.

As for common everyday decision making i.e.: It’s common sense you would never lift heavy weights you never lifted the first time working out why because the outcome could be injury.

From your experience or perspective, what are some of the common barriers that hold someone back from trusting their intuition?

Exactly that, trusting yourself enough to know, I find that control also is a big culprit. We, as humans, find the need to control everything. It’s important to allow our inner guidance to lead the way and trust.

Here is the central question of our discussion. What are five methods that someone can use to become more in touch with their intuition?

  1. Awareness — For real change, you must first learn to be aware of yourself, the space you live in, your surroundings, the circles you keep, and the relationships you build either personal or business-related
  2. Self-care- Understanding our bodies is a key component to unlocking the true essence of our intuition. Move your BODY!
  3. Self-love — Daily affirmations are key to unlocking your intuition.
  4. Self-worth — Understanding you are worthy and deserving will attract abundance.
  5. Self-actualizing — The true mastery of self and how we implement our knowledge and wisdom in the everyday environment.

You are a person of significant influence. If you could inspire a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be?

My passion is bringing together a community that would be inspired by each other creating unity. When I created the Sacred Alignment™ group, nearly 15 years ago, I wanted to facilitate an organization that would foster the creation of meaningful relationships through authentic and organic aligned expression. The group started small, in a small studio space. Together, we all align with our natural blueprint for success in our personal and professional lives.

Today, the Sacred Alignment™ has nearly 1,000 members and growing.

Is there a person in the world whom you would love to have lunch with, and why? Maybe we can tag them and see what happens!

I am not much of a TV buff but intuitively Morgan Freeman is fascinating and soft-spoken, I have watched some documentaries and his movies. I believe he is one of the purest examples of an intuitive human being.

How can our readers further follow your work online?
