It is time to flip the dynamic and empower our patients to start driving their health and well-being while getting doctors more engaged with their patients as whole people. Doctors not involved in whole-person, patient-centered care often lean on expensive tests and unnecessary referrals as a substitute for connecting well with their patients. Supporting the practice of putting patients at the center of their care can improve the quality of health care and reduce costs.
