Set a good example. It will be hard to enforce rules that we don’t follow ourselves. If you don’t want them looking at their phone constantly, don’t just tell them — show them! It’s important to set an example and be mindful of one’s own relationship with technology. We have previously asked parents to evaluate their children’s use of technology (using a scale of different criteria), and we have asked children to do the same of their parents. This is a good exercise to understand how each views the other and can be a great place to start conversations about healthy technology use in your home.

School is really not easy these days. Many students have been out of school for a long time because of the pandemic, and the continued disruptions and anxieties are still breaking the flow of normal learning. What can parents do to help their children thrive and excel in school
