Explain the “why” as well as the “what.” As a leader, you need to get people on board and explain why changes are being made, not just what the changes are going to be.

Books have the power to shape, influence, and change our lives. Why is that so? What goes into a book that can shape lives? To address this we are interviewing people who can share a story about a book that changed their life, and why. As a part of our series, I had the pleasure of interviewing Marty Schoenthaler.

Marty Schoenthaler is President and Chief Franchise Officer of NuVinAir, a franchise-supported company that creates healthy vehicle interiors for the automotive industry. With a career spanning three decades in various leadership roles, he most recently served as CEO for Tate Boys Tire & Service, one of the largest independent tire dealers in Oklahoma. Earlier in his career, Marty served as CIO at Archer Daniels Midland Company, and GM of Corporate Information Technology at ConocoPhillips. After earning an MBA from the University of Arkansas and a BBA from Missouri Southern State University, he began his career at IBM Corporation.
