Thank you for joining us. To start, could you share your “origin story” with our readers? How did you begin your coaching journey, and what challenges did you face in the early days?

For over 30 years, I have been the founder and leader of several thriving companies and I was always interested in the way people interacted with each other and what was effective and fruitful and what was not. For the

majority of those 30 years, I worked with my employees to create great leaders. In 2017 while running my companies, I started my coaching practice. My biggest challenge was scaling and growing my company, but thankfully, patients started referring me. Sometimes inconsistency of clients in flow is still a concern.

You are a successful business leader. Which three character traits do you think were most instrumental to your success? Can you please share a story or example for each?

Integrity, transparency, and commitment. As a leader and as a coach when faced with difficult situations, I always ask myself: “What is the right thing to do?” while staying committed to my/our “why.”

Can you share your favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Why does that resonate with you so much?

“When you change the way you look at things, what you look at changes” by Dr. Wayne Dyer. Life happens in the perspective. Sometimes, all you have to do is look at challenges in a different way.

What are some of the most interesting or exciting projects you are working on now? How do you think that might help people?

I am working on my latest talk, which is about how, at a certain age, everything we do is a result of our programming from our environment and how our thoughts are all unconscious. Once we can recognize those programs, we can break through them to design our lives with intention and make conscious decisions.

Without saying any names could you share a particularly memorable success story from your coaching career?

I worked with a family that had so much going for them, but they were so disjointed, and no one was communicating with each other as a result of trauma in their past. It was the most rewarding experience to see the whole family together at the end and with new communication skills. They all showed up with a tremendous amount of love for each other.

Ok, thank you for that. Let’s now jump to the primary focus of our interview about coaching. How has your approach to coaching evolved over the years, and what personal learnings have you applied to your own development?

I continue to take courses and learn new skills at least every six months. The most exciting courses I have taken have been in Shamanic practice

and healing.

How do you incorporate feedback into your coaching practice to continuously improve?

After each session, I check in with my clients to see how they feel. Then, I take that information and learn what was effective and what wasn’t, and what I would do differently.

Can you discuss an innovation in coaching that you believe is currently underappreciated but has the potential to significantly impact the field? New studies that come out on neuroscience

In what ways can coaching address the evolving mental health needs of diverse populations in a digitally connected world?

As we navigate a digitally connected world, we experience both benefits and drawbacks. One downside of social media is that it distorts true friendship, altering our expectations and definitions of it. Additionally, constant smartphone use influences our personalities and self-images based on social media stimuli. My practice aims to counter this by using non-religious spiritual practices to help clients reconnect with their true selves.

How do you foresee artificial intelligence and machine learning transforming the coaching industry in the

next decade?

Artificial intelligence relies on analyzing and combining preexisting information from various databases to provide advice. While this can be beneficial, it also means that those who depend solely on AI for guidance may end up repeating past patterns without achieving real growth or innovation.

What role do you believe ethical considerations and privacy concerns will play in the future of coaching, especially with the increased use of digital platforms? There is so much emphasis placed on revenue making

in coaching vs. how to effectively help clients get to a happier fuller life. While the business aspect of the coaching is very important, that can’t be the focus. Also, since there are no official requirements for the coaching practice, there are many unqualified training programs that are not effective.

Certification and Professionalism: The trend of obtaining coaching certifications is gaining momentum in the industry. While certifications are not mandatory, they provide credibility and assurance to clients. Many coaches are investing in certification programs to enhance their skills and demonstrate their commitment to professional standards

Technology and Digital Coaching: The use of technology in coaching has become more prevalent. Online training, webinars, and digital coaching platforms are emerging trends in the industry. These technological advancements allow coaches to reach a wider audience and provide convenient and accessible coaching services

Specialization and Niche Coaching: With the growing demand for personalized coaching experiences, coaches are increasingly specializing in specific niches. This allows them to cater to the unique needs and goals of their clients. Specializations can range from health and wellness coaching to leadership coaching, relationship coaching, and more

How do you envision the integration of coaching within organizational cultures changing the landscape of leadership and employee development?

Corporate coaching is increasingly being integrated into organizational cultures as a means of enhancing leadership and employee development. This shift is driven by several factors, including the recognition that traditional command-and-control leadership models are no longer effective in the face of rapid and disruptive change. Here are some ways in which the integration of corporate coaching is changing the landscape of leadership and employee development:

1. Moving toward a coaching model: Many companies are adopting a coaching model in which managers act as facilitators, encouraging problem-solving and supporting employees’ development by asking questions and offering guidance.

2. Creating a coaching culture: Organizations are striving to create a coaching culture, where coaching behaviors are used as a means of communication, management, and influence. In a coaching culture, learning and employee development are valued, and coaching is seen as a strategic goal.

3. Enhancing leadership skills: Corporate coaching focuses on developing leadership skills, such as effective communication, active listening, and mentoring. Good leaders who embody coaching principles can bring out the best in their employees and create positive employee experiences.

4. Shaping company culture: Leadership coaching has a significant impact on company culture. It helps shape the shared beliefs, practices, and values of an organization

5. Aligning leadership with organizational goals: Leadership coaching helps align leadership behavior with the mission and vision of the organization. By developing leaders who are motivated by the organization’s goals, companies can improve performance, attract talent, and retain employees.

What do you see as the biggest challenge facing the coaching industry today, and how might we overcome it?

One of the most significant challenges facing the coaching industry today is the influx of new coaches following the pandemic. This saturation makes it increasingly difficult for clients to identify and select the most qualified coach for their needs. To address this issue, clients should seek referrals from friends or family members who have had positive experiences with a coach. My other advice is to pay attention to which coach’s messaging resonates most with you.

What is one long-term goal you have for your coaching practice, and how are you working towards it?

I would like to do more public speaking and coach large groups so I can reach more people at once. I am working on my transformative talk.
