It’s going to take a while. I remember doing an interview with a Portland Newspaper when I was in my 20’s and stating that I planned to be a traditionally published fiction author by age thirty. That did not happen. There was a time that I was embarrassed about that. But perspective comes with age and a writing journey happens on its own timeline.

Books have the power to shape, influence, and change our lives. Why is that so? What goes into a book that can shape lives? To address this we are interviewing people who can share a story about a book that changed their life, and why. As a part of our series, I had the pleasure of interviewing Nan Fischer.

Nan Fischer is the author of The Book of Silver Linings and Some of It Was Real (Penguin Random House/Berkley Publishing)) and the young adult novels When Elephants Fly and The Speed of Falling Objects (HarperCollins/Inkyard Press).
