“I have used my success to show all kids that are undersized and players that attend small schools that anything is possible. I work hard everyday to show other people like me that anything is possible. I hope that kids will hear my story and that it will inspire them to fulfill their dreams.”

I had the pleasure of interviewing Tim Wilson of the Philadelphia Eagles. Tim was East Stroudsburg’s top receiver in 2017, where he caught 53 balls for 821 yards and 4 TDs . Tim won the team’s Offensive MVP award in 2017 … Ranked 9th in the PSAC in yards per game (74.6) in 2017, He was named second-team All-PSAC East for two straight seasons in 2016 and 2017 Tim also recorded 1,339 all-purpose yards in 2016.

Thank you so much for doing this with us! What is your “backstory”?

I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. I have always had a love for sports, however football peaked my interest! I started playing football in 5th grade and have been playing ever since. When I was younger, I was never the fastest or biggest kid on the field. I always worked diligently to better my craft, as coaches said that I was under sized. That was all I needed to motivate me to become a better player.

Can you share the funniest or most interesting story that occurred to you in the course of your NFL career?

One of the funniest moments during my NFL career happened recently. I caught a touchdown pass during practice and attempted to spin the ball as a celebration. The ball did everything but spin. After practice my coach told me to practice spinning the ball if I’m going to celebrate.

What are some of the most interesting or exciting projects you are working on now?

I am currently in graduate school and I am finishing my master’s degree in leadership and management in organizational behavior. I feel that education is very important to grow as a dynamic individual. It opens a lot doors to new opportunities and helps me establish my career off of the field.

Who are some of the most interesting people you have interacted with? What was that like? Do you have any stories?

One of the most interesting people that I have interacted with is Former Eagles wide receiver Jason Avant. He is very knowledgeable of the wide receiver position and has helped me tremendously with giving me insight and tips to be successful in the National Football League. He has a passion for the game and is a very spiritual man! I have had dinner with him and he has also led the Eagles Bible study.

What would you advise to a young person who aspires to follow your footsteps and emulate your career? What advice would you give?

I would tell them to never back down and to always have faith! I would also tell them to not listen to the naysayers and the negativity. Always have a goal in mind and a plan to reach it!

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I have used my success to show all kids that are undersized and players that attend small schools that anything is possible. I work hard everyday to show other people like me that anything is possible. I hope that kids will hear my story and that it will inspire them to fulfill their dreams.

Is there a particular person that made a profound difference in your life to whom you are grateful? Can you share a story?

My mom has made a profound difference in my life and I am so grateful for her. She has always supported me throughout this journey. She has said so many prayers for me and has always given me the best advice.

Can you share your favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Why does that resonate with you so much?

One of my favorite life lesson quotes and bible verse is “whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the lord and not for people” Colossians 3:23. Although times can get rough, I always have faith and put my heart into the game of football.

Some of the biggest names in Business, VC funding, Sports, and Entertainment read this column. Is there a person in the world, or in the US whom you would love to have a private breakfast or lunch with, and why? He or she might just see this. :-)

If I had to choose one person it would Michael Jordan. He was a very successful basketball player and has a unique brand that is still growing today. I would love to get some advice from him.
