Be intentional about the work you do and don’t just take any job that comes your way. I once got offered to do a play about the killing of Mike Brown and I accepted without knowing anything about the playwright or his past. Assuming that the play would be a passion project that I could stand behind as a Black woman in America simply because it was about Mike Brown. Long story short, the playwright was heavily right winged with White supremacist views and the play he wrote reflected that and not the full truth of what happened in Mike Brown’s case. I vowed to never just accept any acting job again.
