I had the pleasure of interviewing Sarah Lehberger, a photographer based in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Sarah has captured events and portraits in the NY and CT areas since 2003, and she specializes in photography that celebrates unstoppable women and their families. Sarah also happens to be a co-founder of She Will Thrive, a movement to activate a community of leaders dedicated to the empowerment of women.

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I’m a storyteller by nature. I studied journalism and started out in the news and entertainment industries after college. It wasn’t until I began working at a photo agency that I realized I had let go of my creative talents and passions in pursuit of a regular (safe) desk job with benefits. I was surrounded by so much creativity and award-winning photographers, and they inspired me to continue to follow my passions outside of my job. So, in my free time I began photographing weddings, events and portraits part-time (on the weekends), until I became so busy that I had to leave my 9–5 agency job to launch my own full-time photography business. The authentic, brave and resilient people and their stories are what fueled me. I was happy to be creating and storytelling again.
