But people who start from nothing, and especially women who start from nothing, who make it to the top to become millionaires, despite the pay inequalities based on gender, the confidence gap, with nothing but grit, hustle, resilience, and “stick-to-itness”, are on a whole new level. We want to share those stories and inspire other women. In this interview series, we’re talking to “Self-Made” women leaders who started with nothing (i.e. started without investors or trust fund or capital or even people believing in them) and went on to create a million dollar business.

As a part of our series, I had the pleasure of interviewing Juliana Garcia.

Thank you so much for doing this with us! Before we dig in, our readers would like to get to know you a bit more. Can you tell us a bit about your “backstory” and how you grew up?

I was born into Perfectionism… in Colombia to a single mom who was 17 in a really dysfunctional family. My mom was an entrepreneur and she worked really hard. She put so much pressure on herself and therefore on me. I learned that in order to be successful, you have to be perfect. Unless I got the perfect grades, I was never good enough. I mean, I had to be the best in class in order to be loved. I had to be the best loved. I learned that if you’re not the best, you’re going to be punished.

I always wanted to be successful like her. When I saw that the way to be successful is to work hard, I grew up believing if you want to be successful, and you are the best, you’re gonna have to work really hard to make money.

Growing up, what were your early experiences and perspectives about money? Or we could say, what was the “money consciousness” in which you were raised? Can you please give an example of what you mean?

Everything is going to be hard.

I signed up for the belief that making money gets to be hard; if you want to be successful. I thought that was the only way.

But I didn’t want to be like that. The only options I was given on how to live my life, I didn’t agree with.

It was not working for me. It’s not working for my mom or anyone around me. They didn’t seem to be enjoying the path they were telling me to follow. And I was not enjoying it.

What was my biggest struggle became my biggest gift, because from an early age, I learned to question the status quo. I learned to question authority. I learned how to communicate my value or I couldn’t speak up at all.

I wanted to redefine what was possible for myself. I want to be a loving, empowering leader.

Awesome! Let’s now jump to the primary focus of our interview. Let’s talk about what you are doing now, and how you achieved the success that you currently enjoy. Can you tell our readers about the business you’ve created?

I had to challenge the belief that money was hard, which I’m grateful for now because I want to revolutionize an entire industry and teach coaches how to make so much money with EASE.

Instead of following other people’s guidance of what you have to accept, I got to define what I was available for and elevate my standard.

I was constantly elevating the standards of what I was available for by honoring what I actually wanted to do, not what people told me that I had to do.

I finally surrendered to questioning the status quo and following my own path.

And in that process, I made $3 million in three years teaching my signature system, the Magnetize and Monetize Method. And what grew out of my own healing journey was my signature system, which was elevating the standards of what I was willing to be available for, not what other people told me I needed to accept.

What was your vision when you started this business? What’s the WHY behind the work that you do? (Please share a story about this if you can.)

There are a lot of business coaches teaching outdated methodologies, or they worked last year, they don’t work anymore.

There are a lot of coaches trying funnels and systems and launch routines. They’re not working.

There are a lot of people still relying on Facebook ads, but they’ve never communicated their value. So they’re just draining money, because it’s not even landing with anybody.

Why not try a different way that is working for so many people? Right. And it’s a lot easier.

So one day, I had an idea in the shower just to free myself from all of that and do things my own way to expose 30 truths about myself in 30 days.

That was the moment when things really took off for me.

Finally, I gave myself permission to really create different rules. And the most beautiful thing about it is that I was, I got to let go being perfect.

I actually freed myself to the fullest expression of who I was, and what I was going to contribute.

I bypassed and elevated the standard of who I get to work with, and the work I get to do in the world.

Here was literally exactly the thing I had to let go of that I had learned when I was little: stop listening to the status quo, if it’s not working and you don’t want to do it.

What started from this Expose Your Truth Challenge grew into my signature system, which was a way to challenge the status quo and change the industry so people can make more money easier and do the things that they love to do, which for so long.

What you teach is like the medicine that you need.

My unique brilliance came from this frustration or not feeling understood, and not being able to communicate to communicate my value. I became really, in like, really obsessed with knowing how to communicate clearly.

I came into full expression of myself and questioning the status quo and blazing my own path.

We’d love to explore the traits that help you achieve your success. What were the mindset obstacles that you had to overcome in order to reach the place of earning a million dollars? Can you tell us what you did to overcome them?

I realize that the success I’ve enjoyed of 3 million in three years, is due to a multi-factorial, multi-dimensional approach that makes me unlike any other coach.

There are three buckets to focus on:

  1. it’s energetics
  2. the mindset
  3. the tactics all together.

These 3 things together uplevel what you’re available for.

If you don’t have one of those three in place, you get blocked.

So for example, I had to learn to show up and accept myself no matter what.

One day, my boyfriend walked in with flowers and a bottle of rose after I texted him and said: “Baby guess what! I met my launch goal of 50k!”

It was the first time I had launched the Magnetize & Monetize Mastermind.

I was ecstatic.

Fast forward to today and we’re celebrating many consecutive multiple 6-figure launches resulting in a multi-million dollar business.

Same strategy.

Same program.

Except after so many rounds, I have mastered it a little bit more every time.

Each time with more ease.

Spending less time on the launch than before.

And with vacations around the world in the middle of it lol

But I remember the time when this level of ease during launches felt so distant.

When launches equaled panic and stress.

Simply because if I didn’t hit my goal, I would make it mean I wasn’t good enough.

I was seeking validation in my bank account.

Or the number of clients I had.

This never works.

Because when you’re hitting your goals, you’re on top of the world.

But if you’re not? You quickly spiral into a pit.

I remember the tone I would have with myself if I didn’t hit my goal.

It sounded like my mom when I didn’t get straight A’s when I was little.

But worse.

And when I tuned in, little Juliana was done with the self-punishment.

So I promised her that if I was going to launch anything in my business,

a new feeling would guide the way I launched.

I promised her I would stop looking for validation in the number in my bank account.

Or the number of people who joined.

I would LOVE her no matter what.

I reminded her that she didn’t have to prove herself to me or anyone by hitting a goal. Because in my eyes she was the G.

That no matter what happened, I would hold her with compassion.

And that NO matter what the result, I would celebrate her for doing the damn thing.

And that her and I would have FUN no matter what.

That’s when it hit me.

The entire strategy just poured on me.

This was August 2019 in Hawaii.

That’s when the Magnetic Launch Formula was born.

(Little did I know that my clients would go on to implement the same process and create $30,0000 — $100,000+ launches all year).

The feeling that guides the whole process?

LOVE.

For the process.

For the failures.

For every single one of the clients that join.

And most importantly, for yourself.

That’s what makes my launches work.

I’m committed to my result.

But I’m not attached to the outcome.

I never look for validation in the numbers.

I serve from love.

If I make $0k, I love myself

If I make $500,000, I love myself.

I never attach the outcome to my worth.

I never make the number in my account mean anything about me.

Unless it serves me.

Let yourself fail.

Let yourself feel terrible.

And love yourself at every moment.

It will make you unstoppable.

It starts and ends with LOVE.

What were the external obstacles that you had to overcome in reaching these milestones? And how specifically did you overcome them? (Please share a story or example.)

At 17, I moved to Australia, seeking a better life.

I was available for so much more than anything I saw around me.

And finally, I felt free. Finally, I felt like I was my own person. Like, I could do whatever I wanted. But I was alone in the world. Nobody was supporting me. And I really started to ask, how do you become successful? What are the rules and status quo about how to be successful? I learned a new status quo.

I was doing all the right things, but then only the people who were friends with the bosses would get the raises and I’m like, what? That is not fair! This is not fair.

I wanted to advance in my career, but this was only possible if you were friends with the right people or in the clique?

Again, I did what people in authority told me was the status quo to be successful, and it didn’t work. I moved to Australia, because I was questioning the status quo, and found myself smack dab in the middle of a company, where I followed all the rules again, and still not getting where I wanted to go. I felt misunderstood and available for more… and that is when I found Entrepreneurship. I learned to anchor deep into my own belief and my own truth about what I knew was possible. Not just accept what other people told me. I questioned the status quo again.

Was there ever a point where you wanted to give up on your journey to creating a million dollar business? How did you work through that panic point? Please share a story.

Entrepreneurship felt like the place for me where I could finally create my own rules. I had a mentor at the time. I told him, “I really want to be a coach”, because I was so good at coaching people in creating results in that same area of building a software company, which we eventually sold.

I said to him, ”I want to be a coach. I get so much joy out of this.”

He said, “Juliana, don’t do it. Don’t become a coach, because coaches don’t make money.”

So from that moment, I also thought, “Well, I guess he’s a superior, he knows better than I do. Okay, these are the rules.”

I spent so much time denying what I wanted.

Denying that I could do it my way.

Denying my own brilliancy.

Denying my own capability, because I thought people knew better than me.

I spent almost two years with this desire and this craving to be a coach.

But it was always followed by the thought, “No, coaches don’t make money, coaches don’t make money.”

Again, and again, and again, people tell you in life, “This is what you have to accept. And again, and again, and again, I was like, I’m available for so much more, I don’t want that.”

And then one day, I was so sick and tired of accepting that narrative, because I just knew in my heart, I wanted to do it.

Instead of following other people’s guidance of what you have to accept, I got to define what I was available for and elevate my standard.

What were the most important resources, tools, affirmations, mindset strategies or practices that you used to build your business to where it is today?

  1. Elevate the quality of clients you attract. Most online business owners are unconsciously using fear-based marketing to sell.   2. Value your offer in a premium way. Start Premium. Most coaches who are qualified are afraid to charge a premium because they think they need more time. Or they price it based on the time of their container. These perspectives put a ceiling in your earning capacity because when we put time in the earning equation we are always going to lose. What we need to think about is value. Instead of pricing your offer based on the length of the container, price it based on the lifetime value it has for your client and the transformation it will bring. If you’re afraid to raise your prices, remember it takes the same amount of energy to sell something that is $500 as $50,000.
  3. Monetize your influence with a magnetic message. Even if I gave you 100,000 ideal clients and perfect followers, if you don’t know the right words to say to communicate the value of what you offer, they will ignore you. You have to have the right message. Words are important because the way our brain works is always trying to identify how it can save calories and thrive. Where are the threats and what are the solutions to our problems? So people’s brains file you under the problem that you can help them solve. If you’re not clear and able to articulate that, you’ll be ignored. No matter how certified you are, having a clear message is the fastest way to magnetize clients.

What do you think is the greatest challenge for women and creating wealth/abundance? What advice would you have for someone that is feeling blocked by that obstacle?

Most people believe getting to success has to take a long time and that it needs to be complicated. But I believe while success isn’t EASY, I do believe you can find EASE in success. You find EASE in success by keeping things simple. Instead of doing more things, more followers, more landing pages, and longer funnels, and focusing on doing MORE, the hardest thing about being successful is keeping things simple and doing less.

This actually makes success happen faster.
