Remember to have fun. This sounds silly, but it’s vital. Yes, filmmaking is insanely difficult. But it’s also an absolute blast. If it’s not, you better change something. If you’re really connected to your purpose, if you’re doing what you love, and working with good people, it just cannot help but be a joy. I try to create projects and experiences that are a joy for audiences and also the cast and crew. That always takes extra thought and care, but it’s always worth it.

As a part of our series about creating a successful career in TV and Film, I had the distinct pleasure of interviewing Taron Lexton.

Born in South Africa, Lexton has filmed in 59 countries on 7 continents, directing more than 500 national commercials, including several Super Bowl ads, multiple award-winning short films, and earning the United Nations Award of Excellence for his humanitarian projects.
