Prevention and wellness should be emphasized from the moment a young married couple has children. Perhaps pediatricians can be primary advocates of the importance of lifestyle in preventing future illnesses. Famous athletes who advertise junk food need to be educated regarding the powerful influence they are having on the health of their youngest fans and should be encouraged to be positive role models for good health.
