Today, more than ever, wellness is at the forefront of societal discussions. From mental health to physical well-being, women are making significant strides in bringing about change, introducing innovative solutions, and setting new standards. Despite facing unique challenges, they break barriers, inspire communities, and are reshaping the very definition of health and wellness. In this series called women in wellness we are talking to women doctors, nurses, nutritionists, therapists, fitness trainers, researchers, health experts, coaches, and other wellness professionals to share their stories and insights. As a part of this series, we had the pleasure of interviewing Paige Lindgren.

Paige Lindgren is a Los Angeles-based Certified Hormone Specialist and Holistic Nutritionist who is on a mission to empower women with knowledge about their bodies, promote holistic well-being, and help them find balance in their lives. Her guiding philosophy emphasizes returning to the basics of health and wellness, which include prioritizing activities like soaking in sunlight, engaging in regular physical activity, sharing laughter with friends, and nourishing the body with real, whole foods.

Thank you so much for joining us in this interview series! Our readers would love to “get to know you” better .Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started your career? What were the main lessons or takeaways from that story?

Honestly, the most interesting thing I’ve discovered isn’t one crazy case, but a total shift in how I approach wellness. For years, I saw people obsessing over the perfect diet, the perfect exercise program, or that miracle supplement. They’d put in the hard work, but felt a lack of results. Then, the lightbulb moment: almost everyone I spoke with had underlying stress and imbalanced cortisol messing with their progress. It became clear — addressing the nervous system is the foundation. Now, I guide people towards nervous system regulation and cortisol management alongside healthy habits. The results are night and day!

It has been said that our mistakes can be our greatest teachers. Can you share a story about a mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?

The ‘one size fits all’ approach! Big mistake, especially early on. I’d create this perfect plan that I knew would help lots, but it wouldn’t resonate with everyone. An example is how intermittent fasting has a lot of science behind its benefits. It can be a great tool for men and menopausal women. However women in their fertile years, a lot of the time, respond very poorly resulting in lower energy, water retention, increased cortisol, and irregular cycles. I have learned to be mindful of my claims while posting to a large audience and to always recommend individualizing everything to specific needs.

Let’s jump to our main focus. When it comes to health and wellness, how is the work you are doing helping to make a bigger impact in the world?

Women’s health has always been a passion of mine due to my own journey struggling with my hormones growing up. So much confusion exists around hormones and their impact on our bodies and we as women are left to feel crazy when our body and mood is behaving out of our control without knowing why. I want to empower women with knowledge! Through my social media channels, I help women understand the hormonal shifts happening throughout their cycle, week by week. This knowledge is power and allows them to take charge of their health, make informed decisions, and finally feel in control!

Can you share your top five “lifestyle tweaks” that you believe will help support people’s journey towards better wellbeing?

1. Morning Sunlight: Spending time outdoors in the morning sunlight can help regulate circadian rhythms which will support hormonal balance, improve mood and sleep, and boost vitamin D levels. For example, starting your day with a 10-minute walk or simply enjoying your morning coffee on the balcony can provide a natural energy boost and set a positive tone for the day.

2. Daily Walking: Incorporating daily walks into your routine not only supports physical health but also promotes mental well-being. Taking a 30-minute walk during your lunch break can help clear your mind, reduce stress, and improve productivity for the rest of the day. Bonus if you can take a quick walk after eating your meals which will support blood sugar balance and digestion!

3. Blood Sugar Balanced Meals: Consuming meals that balance carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats can help stabilize blood sugar levels and prevent energy crashes, support mood, keep cortisol level optimal, and increase satiety.

4. Nature Exposure and Grounding: Spending time in nature and connecting with the earth’s energy is known as grounding and can reduce stress, improve sleep, and enhance overall well-being. Try to touch the earth as much as you can to get its positive ions! Stand on the grass in your back yard or opt for a beach walk whenever possible!

5. Cycle Alignment: Our hormones fluctuate throughout our cycle and making slight adjustments to our nutrition and movement can help support our hormone levels and make those fluctuations a little easier to go through! An example is to eat more iron and omegas in conjunction with low impact movement on your period, more salads and cruciferous veggies after your period paired with higher impact exercise, and warming foods rich in B vitamins before your period!

If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of wellness to the most amount of people, what would that be?

Imagine a world where hormone education is a regular part of health class! And where integrative care, combining traditional and natural approaches, is accessible to everyone. This would empower people to understand their bodies and create personalized wellness plans that truly work for them.

What are your “5 Things I Wish Someone Told Me Before I Started” and why?

1. One Size Doesn’t Fit All: There’s no magic bullet! Personalized wellness is key.

2. Challenges as Teachers: Personal bumps in the road can be your greatest teachers and will end up helping many others if you are open to it. Embrace the learning!

3. Lifelong Learning: The wellness field is constantly evolving. There’s always more to discover.

4. Prioritize Your Well-Being: You can’t pour from an empty cup. Taking care of myself allows me to better serve others.

5. Share Your Voice: Don’t be afraid to put your message out there, even when it challenges the norm.

Sustainability, veganism, mental health, and environmental changes are big topics at the moment. Which one of these causes is dearest to you, and why?

Mental health, hands down. It’s so intricately linked to our physical well-being. I see the toll stress takes on people’s health and have personally battled with my mental health throughout my life. Once I started really prioritizing my gut and hormone health, I was surprised to see the positive effect it had on my mental health. It is a cycle that we need to be supporting on both ends!

What is the best way for our readers to further follow your work online?
