As a part of my series about women in wellness, I had the pleasure of interviewing Marina Davidyan.

Thank you so much for joining us in this interview series! Our readers would love to “get to know you” better. Can you share your “backstory” with us?
Before starting my nursing career, I specialized in cosmetology. With over 15 years of nursing experience, from hands-on nursing to nursing administration, I found my true passion in aesthetics, something that combines both nursing and beauty. I am a registered nurse and possess a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing, as well as an upcoming nurse practitioner accreditation. I am continually in pursuit of the industry’s most effective treatments. I have trained with some of the best in the industry all over the world, as I have been working in the aesthetic field for years, and treated many high profile clients including celebrities and influencers. My approach to clients is very individual.
No two faces are alike. I make sure to consider every single detail and concern my client has and deliver results that are expected. It’s a blessing to be able to make someone more confident about themself by just treating that little wrinkle or tightening the skin. When you look good you feel good, and when you feel good magic happens.
Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started your career? What were the main lessons or takeaways from that story?
I had a client who spent thousands of dollars on different treatments seeing many doctors and skin specialists to remove her acne scars and saw minimal improvement. When she came to me, she confessed that she was not content with the minimal improvement and was looking for a better solution to help boost her confidence. So we came up with a customized treatment plan for her and within several months she saw 60% improvement in the appearance of her acne scars. She was thrilled with my treatment plan and kept thanking me for taking her appearance insecurities away by making her skin look flawless.
It has been said that our mistakes can be our greatest teachers. Can you share a story about a mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?
When I first started, I was too shy to ask for reviews. My clients would share with me how happy they were with their results via text or email, but I was too shy to ask them to share their feedback on google or yelp for others to see. However, shortly after, I realized that reviews are one of the essential parts of my business for my future clients to learn about the impeccable service we provide. The lesson I learned was that as much as it was vital for me to know how our clients felt after receiving our services, it was more important for others to learn about their experiences at Madavi Aesthetics.
Let’s jump to our main focus. When it comes to health and wellness, how is the work you are doing helping to make a bigger impact in the world?
Beauty insecurities are one of the main stressors that affect health and wellness. Although everyone is beautiful in their own way, they do have different definitions of beauty. Some may be bothered by wrinkles while others are bothered by acne scars or thin lips, it varies from person to person. The main purpose of my job is to enhance my client’s natural beauty and boost their confidence which then result in better overall health and wellness.
Can you share your top five “lifestyle tweaks” that you believe will help support people’s journey towards better wellbeing? Please give an example or story for each. .

If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of wellness to the most amount of people, what would that be?
We already started a movement that provides complementary services to moms who can’t afford some of the expensive treatments we provide and to give them opportunity to enjoy self-care.
What are your “5 Things I Wish Someone Told Me Before I Started” and why?
The five things I wish someone told me before I started are as followed:
- Hire a startup business consultant, so that I could focus on things that matter the most get my business up and running.
- Prioritize asking for testimonials and reviews from clients, so that my future clients could learn more about our services through my current happy clients.
- Delegate, so that I’m able to scale my business faster
- Be ready to wear multiple hats, so that I had proper expectations of all the different jobs related to my business.
- Learn how to say “No,” so people don’t take advantage of my time.
Sustainability, veganism, mental health, and environmental changes are big topics at the moment. Which one of these causes is dearest to you, and why?
Mental health and environmental changes are causes that are dearest to me because they both can significantly impact the appearance and health of the skin. Stress anxiety and depression can trigger various skin conditions and make existing problems worse. In addition, there are also a lot of environmental changes that can cause additional skin damage, irritation, inflammation and much more.
