It’s the day before Saint Valentine’s Day and I’m feeling romantic as I walk into my favourite coffee shop. I’ve bought my wife, Claire, a bunch of red roses and once I’ve bought myself a steaming hot cappuccino, I settle them down on the table next to mine and sit down with my laptop to do some work. The scent of the flowers mingles in my nose with the cafe’s rich aroma of ground coffee beans, a pleasant mixture.
“For me?” says Sarah, the pretty brunette waitress to who I introduced myself last week.
“Ah, sorry.” I shake my head apologetically. “They’re for someone else.”
“Your wife?” Sarah is beautiful, even with the mock-pouty face that she pulls at me. “She’s a lucky lady.”
