Why you may need to download YouTube videos
There are several reasons why you may want to download YouTube videos:
- YouTube videos are sometimes taken down and off-late; it’s become something of an endemic, with takedown notices flying left, right, and center
- Your favorite YouTube video has been taken down by the creator — probably in response to some inane takedown notice from YouTube
- You may want to keep these videos for offline viewing when you’re traveling — this is easy to do via the YouTube app
- You want to safeguard your YouTube videos and YouTube channel from the vagaries of the internet and the whims of a multi-billion dollar company
Why other YouTube downloaders are lacking
There are a ton of services out there that can help you with downloading YouTube videos, BUT they’re just one-time affairs, i.e., they’re static snapshots of a YouTube channel or a YouTube playlist.
What if your favorite YouTube playlist is being updated with newer content? And what if your beloved YouTube channel keeps putting out fresh content?
Enter Authory.
With Authory’s YouTube downloader, you can download entire playlists and complete YouTube channels in just a few clicks! Obviously, you can also download videos as well!
Moreover, Authory is self-updating. So, once you add a YouTube playlist or YouTube channel to your Authory account, Authory will automatically save all future videos as well. This way, you don’t need to keep downloading videos from your cherished YouTube channel or playlist — Authory will do that all for you.
Let’s dig into how to set this up!

Step 1 of the auto-download YouTube videos setup from YouTube playlists & channels
Then, add the YouTube playlist URL, YouTube channel URL, or your YouTube profile URL, as shown below. As mentioned before, you’ll need to name your source. Since I am using my brother Rohin’s YouTube channel for this example, I’ve decided to name the source Rohin’s YouTube.
Ensure that you select Past and future content to auto-download any future published content! Then click Start import to begin the process.
Step 2 of the auto-download YouTube videos setup from YouTube playlists & channels
For a YouTube channel or playlist, it can take Authory some time to download it completely. You’ll be notified via email as soon as this is done.
To view your downloaded YouTube videos, go to the Content tab and then use the filters on the left or the search bar on the top-right to find the video you’re looking for.
Step 3 of the auto-download YouTube videos setup from YouTube playlists & channels
When you click through to any of the YouTube videos, you’ll be able to play the video from Authory itself. You can also open the original YouTube video’s URL if you so choose.
🗒️ Note: If the YouTube video has been taken down, there’s no issue because it has been downloaded to Authory, and you’ll always have access to it!
