This Veteran Content Marketer Explains Why Creating PDFs of Your Articles to Back Them up Doesn’t Cut It

Having written more than 600 articles for countless publications and clients, Nicky LaMarco used to painstakingly create PDFs of every single piece for her personal backup. Having switched to Authory, she isn’t looking back.

Hi Nicky, thanks for agreeing to share your experience with Authory so far. Please tell us a little bit about your background as a content marketer and strategist.

I’ve been a writer for more than 16 years. I’ve been focusing on finance and health writing lately.

You have been using Authory for almost a year now. What did you look for initially?

I lost a lot of articles and other work because websites shut down. I kept the links, but those obviously didn’t work. So, I started downloading PDFs of all my articles, taking up a lot of my time. Once I had my hundreds of articles downloaded, I needed somewhere to store them, so I bought a thumb drive. Then, every time I had a new article published, which is several times a week, I had to go download another PDF and back it up.

“I lost a lot of articles and other work because websites shut down.”

This was monotonous, so I decided to research another option. That’s when I found Authory.

And how has Authory worked for you? Have your expectations been fulfilled?

I was skeptical at first, as I am with everything, but my expectations have been exceeded. Authory automatically backs up all my articles for me.

The best part is that if my article gets moved or the website goes down, Authory will keep my article backed up for me. It’s such a time saver.

With her Authory account, Nicky has more than 600 articles from 24 different publications all safely stored in a single place. Plus, they look really good!

I’ve noticed that you set the visibility of some articles to public, meaning they can be read by anybody right on your Authory page. It looks like that’s mostly the case for articles that aren’t live anymore at the original source. Could you tell us a bit more about this particular use case?

I believe these articles are being moved. I’m so glad Authory keeps these backed up for me because I would have lost them, otherwise unless I spent endless hours backing them up myself.

I currently keep all of my articles public, but I’m happy I can change that if I want to.

Nicky doesn’t only have a private backup of all her articles, but she can make copies of specific articles public on her Authory page. That’s perfect if the respective articles aren’t available at the original publication anymore.
