The Trough of Despair

This is a graph of the expected moments groups face when working on the project. The beginning is filled with hope, and high Expectations. In terms of our group it was the early Shark Tank, And down there at the bottom is the Trough of Despair/Disillusionment. It’s the lowest point you face when your Inflated expectations turn into reality.

That happened yesterday, and funnily not because of the project. Our entire group have been stand-stilled and stalled by CS lab projects that cause hours to fly by with nothing done. We’re starting real development on the app, and hitting our stride in marketing our idea, but most of the group have been halted by the Computer Science Labs of writing interpreters, Data Structures, and Circuits.

That being said there have been good things that have happened.

Acquiring the Lilypad Arduino and accelerometer.

Yesterday we met with Professor Hertz, who teaches one of the coolest classes Project in Ubicomp, who recently came back from a trip to China, and is making a documentary on Hackerspaces in China, Shanzhai, and amazing things. He’s made a ton of cool projects, and leads one of the most interesting lives (imagine playing an arcade racing game, that actually drives a vehicle in Denmark); as well as having a sweet office.

Rummaging through the piles of cool stuff, we found a LilyPad Arduino and accelerometers that are actually used in clothes, and the perfect tool to actually put in a Teddy Bear.

Not only that the Student Shark Tank Event put out a video we were featured in. Stay tuned for the interviews.

Being the lone survivor of the deadly CS labs, I’ve currently reached out to more people in order to do further research, as well as started developing the website.
