Grow anywhere and on any device? Absolutely!

The thought of sitting on a beach somewhere, sipping that cold beer and watching your kids paddle in the water or being on a mountain relaxing before taking that next run on the slopes is something we probably think about on a regular basis — and then we remember that our plants don’t take a break just because we want to.

Most people don’t realize that it’s not that easy for a grower to leave his or her crop for extended periods of time and not come home to rows of wilted or dead plants. But with technology these days you should be able to do anything you like remotely.

Brace yourself — it exists.

You can now control your systems anywhere in the world and all you need is an internet connection. We have a cloud based product called IntelliGrow that is a bit like a fitbit for your crops. It tracks everything your plants are doing, sends alerts and notifications but unlike your fitbit this system can actually control your hardware back at the farm.

If you think about modern houses where you can turn on your air con via your mobile phone or even run a bath from work so that it’s ready when you get home, it makes sense that you should be able to run your greenhouse remotely as well.

PC, Mac, mobile phone… any device, anywhere. It’s all pretty clever.

Our CTO Jeffrey (who is a rocket scientist genius magician) gets all excited when talking about IntelliGrow because it also uses an open API. For those non-techies it means it can integrate with third party systems. That means you could not only control what’s happening to the plants but also the lighting, HVAC and everything else in the environment (can you feel the power coursing through your veins as you read this?). +

The bottom line is that it’s about peace of mind. One growers crop can be worth hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of dollars so the risk is high — but with modern tech now - that beach or mountain-top should be a definite plan rather than just a pipe dream.
