The Honda Accord has steadily maintained its reputation of being a tough competitor in the mid-size sedan segment alongside brilliant cars like Toyota Camry and Hyundai Sonata. The first Honda Accord Hybrid appeared in 2015, and after taking 2016 off, it is back with a refreshed 2017 Hybrid model. The Honda Accord is also celebrating its 40th birthday this year. Honda may be Japanese, but the Honda Accord is built in America, for Americans and it is doing extremely well at everything it was designed to do.

Honda is known for its forward-looking approach. The Japanese carmaker has not secured the fame it enjoys today by lying low in its comfort zone. Instead it ruthlessly innovates and attacks its next goal, in this instance with a 50-mpg Hybrid.

Overview

The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid is quite comfortable for drivers and passengers alike. The braking and acceleration performance is quite impressive, although it has some near misses. Its EPA ratings do not match the figures of the 2014–2015 Honda Accord Hybrid, which still attract a lot of attention among the Honda new cars in Texas. However, the ratings are still the best in this segment. This model is all about comfort and smoothness and it literally motors off with smooth, silent electric torque answering the tap of the accelerator pedal.

This Hybrid has a more powerful 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine, a more compact lithium-ion battery pack and electronic control unit, and has added driver assist features and comforts. Owing to some great car deals in the market, it won’t be long before it beats the Fusion Hybrid and becomes a range topper in this area also.

Performance

This Honda Accord has the best EPA fuel efficiency ratings in its class, plus best-in-class total system horsepower and it does considerably well in other areas like interior design and comfort. With 49 mpg city, 47 highway, and 48 mpg combined EPA ratings, the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid is a little more efficient than its predecessor. This Honda new car has a total system power of 212 horsepower (158 kW) from its gas engine, electric motor and battery pack combined. With gentle pressure and sufficient charge in the 1.3-kWh battery pack, you can sneak past 60 mph in EV Drive mode for a mile or so without rousing the engine.

Features

The front suspension received a new design which has improved response and control of the previous model. This car corners curvy hills and bumpy surfaces easily owing to its improved power steering assistance. Its larger-than-compact-size allows four passengers to sit comfortably. The cockpit hosts a wealth of sophisticated design cues. The sophisticated bodylines on its exterior give it a sleek look from every angle. Whether it’s a starry night or beautiful sunny day, it’s easy to have a good view with a one-touch power moonroof.

Its safety features include forward collision warning, active cruise control, lane departure warning and emergency braking. CarPlay and AutoPlay integration, Bluetooth audio, and voice command are some of the infotainment features.

The 2017 Honda Accord is available in three trim levels — Base, EX-L and Touring. The EX-L model features leather seats and smartphone integration while the Touring model boasts navigation, LED headlights, heated front and rear seats, and more. All trims levels with some great car deals are available at the dealerships now.

When talking about a car which offers great fuel economy, spacious interior, safety and comfort, the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid is a case in point. This car is loaded with features and is a top pick at the car dealerships in Mt. Pleasant.
