If you love your car, you must be loving every details of your car. One of these include unexpected noises that might arise out of various possibilities. You must keep yourself updated in case if you find any occurrence and you should also be prepared in such cases.

1. Clunking

Driving over a bump or any pothole, and you hear clunks? Don’t ignore thinking that this could be due to the edgy road. The clunking could be because of broken brake caliper, bad ball joint, or faulty stabilizer link-pins. Consider taking your car to a workshop and get it rectified soon.

2. Metal Grinding Sound

If you listen a metal grinding sound, possibly the break pad is torn off and the calipers would be grinding against the rotor. Consider replacing the break pad before its too late.

3. Squeaking Sound while turning the wheel

The moment you turn the wheel, you might find your steering column squeaking like a groaning steering wheel. If the sound is light, you can consider topping up the power-steering fluid. If still it doesn’t help, or the sound increases, you should check your power steering lines.

4. Flapping

Are you listening a flapping sound when you run the air conditioner, or the blower? This could be the result of a loose, misaligned ventilation flap. For this, you can opt-in for the AC performance checkup.

7. Squeaking sound under the hood

If you find your car is roaring than the usual, there might be an issue with the cylinder compression. Higher pressure in the cylinder can produce a knocking sound and can even degrade the engine gradually. Get it fixed at a nearby workshop.

10. Uneven Idling

When the car’s spark plugs burn out, you can experience uneven idling. Spark plugs ignite the engine and if these are worn out, you need to replace these immediately.

11. Sputtering

If you remove the keys, but the car still continues running, you might hear the effects of “dieseling”. It happens when the gasoline continues to ignite by compression alone in the cylinder without the aid of the spark plug.

12. Ticking

Noisy pistons indicate low oil levels and can produce ticking sound. Pistons rely on lubricating oil to work, to check the ticking sounds, you will need to check your car’s oil tank.

13. Loud Bang

If the sound is too loud, it could be a fault in air-fuel mixture. It can also signal that a catalytic converter is not functioning properly.

14. Hissing

If the car’s engine make a hissing sound, the cooling system might be leaking. Get it checked and topped up.

Gear grinding can be indicative of a worn out synchronizer. he transmissioncomponent that enables easy shifting from one ratio to another. If these are dilapidated they will not be able to equalize the speeds of the different shafts inside the transmission and the dog clutches will grind.

16. Howling

Pinion pre-load, worn gears or bad bearings can cause howling sound while accelerating or de-accelerating.

17. Scraping from the rear of the car

This could be if your parking brake is on, or brake drum backing plates are rubbing against the brake drum. Check if there is anything stuck at the rear, or the drum plates need to be removed.

18. Clicking while turning around a corner

If the CV joints are worn out, you can get the clicking sound while turning around a corner. You can also check if the brake pads are loosely mounted and need a correction.

19. Popping sound from exhaust

If you find popping sound from the exhaust, fuel injectors might be leaking, or there could be a possible hole or leak in the car’s exhaust.

20. Whirring from the engine

A bad water pump or a bad air conditioning pressure can result in whirring sound from the engine. This can get worse when the engine speed increases. Get an engine inspection.
