The choice is similar to getting yourself styled at a parlor or calling someone at home to do the makeup for you. Here also the decision is difficult. One gives you the comfort of being at home, the other gives you perfection with resources. However, the choice is ultimately yours!

You can either choose to get your car serviced at the doorstep or you can choose to opt-in for a workshop. However, both has its own pros and cons.

Doorstep Car Service

There are so many car service aggregators who provide you this service with a seamless click on the app. You only need to specify which service do you need and select your convenient time.

Pros:

  1. Doorstep car service is good if your choice of the garage is far away. You can call the technicians at home and get your car fixed.
  2. This works well when you run short of time and have commitments at home. With the doorstep service, you can save your time and can work on multiple things in parallel.
  3. You can easily avoid the hassle of being in a queue unlike at any workshop.
  4. You can avail transparent service right in front of you. Whatever they do, you will get to know. Whether they are replacing the parts or repairing the parts. You’ll also enjoy seeing the car getting a complete transformation.

Cons:

  1. Your car might be vibrating or there could be some silent killer. You might not be aware of the exact issue. Once you opt-in for the doorstep car service and the representative arrives at your doorstep, he might discover additional issue which can only be resolved at the workshop. This entire process takes your time and you end up investing more time for the inspection and the scheduling.
  2. At Doorstep service, the workshops send 1–2 technicians who are not well equipped with all the car equipment. For any major fixing, they might need to resort back to the workshop to fix the things. If the service had to take this long, why would you even consider a doorstep service?
  3. With the technology advancement, most of the car issues are examined electronically and that setup you can not have at home. With a proper car scanning, you can discover the exact issue and the associated solution. Knowing the root cause will save your time and money.
  4. You can not get a specialized car washing at your doorstep that would include high pressure cleaning machine, high powered vacuum cleaners, steam cleaners, engine hot water wash, dressing, polishing, waxing, dashboard cleaning etc. Such premium work needs a proper car centre to address your car issues.

Few people do trust the doorstep service while other go little skeptical on the options. Obviously, it is your car, your luxury, and your comfort and you would not like to compromise on the service quality.

Let’s flip over the pros and cons of workshop car service.

Workshop Car Service

This is the best option if you really love your car! Car centres are creating the revolution and making sure that you get the best service for your convenience. They are also optimizing for the time being taken on the procurement of the quality spare parts to deliver the service on time.

Pros:

  1. You will get multiple skilled technicians at the workshops that would fix the various issues, unlike the doorstep service. A bunch of experts specialized in different verticals is better than 1–2 technicians at your doorstep.
  2. You will get specialized car washing service with high-end pressure systems and high powered vacuum cleaners. Not only the car washing service, but you can avail complete body repair, denting and painting, interior and Upholstery Cleaning, Wax Polish, Underbody Antirust Treatment, Petrol/Diesel Additive, Engine Flush Treatment, AC Disinfection Treatment, Radiator Flush Treatment.
  3. The workshop carries specialized tools such as car lifting machine, bolt guns, alignment/ balancing machines. Availability of resources avoids the additional timing required for inspection at the doorstep and procuring things from the workshop.
  4. You can get a detailed car scanning done at the workshop. This would identify all the minor and the major issues to fix up your car. The right diagnosis is half the job done, right?
  5. If you’ve received any personal reference for a particular garage service, then it is highly likely that the service would be streamlined and of high quality at the workshop.

Cons:

  1. You might not be able to see how your car gets serviced. But if you trust the garage, you need not see how they exactly do the servicing. Also, startups like Automovill is bringing IoT based video streaming, through which you can see the servicing remotely.
  2. You might need to take your car to the garage and that could take a considerable amount of time. However, these days car service centers are providing free pick up & drop service that you can avail to avoid the hassle.
  3. You might be asked to replace few parts and you might end up paying a hefty amount. Therefore, you must be aware of your car issues and if the issues can be repaired instead of replacement.
