Summer is Over and It’s Time to Get Back to Business
Autumn’s Allusions #35
Autumn’s Allusions posts are always free for anyone to read but many of my posts on Medium are for paying members. If you want to read them all, you can get a membership here. If you prefer to read for free, some stories that get sent by email have a link at the top to where you can read for free (but on sites with advertising).
I’ve really enjoyed my summer off. Well, not completely off from working — I did have two jobs! But off of writing.
It helped me get some sense of direction. It took the pressure off and I feel like I can come back to writing now and enjoy doing what I love. Being creative.
So, where do I go from here?
#1 Quick and Dirty
I’m quite happy with the direction my Quick & Dirty publication is going. We’ve got a nice amount of contributors adding new content every single day and the subscriber and follower counts are growing.
Over the next while, I want to keep working on this publication. I think it is a great way for erotica/sex writers to add new content, draw attention to old content, and get more followers and subscribers for themselves, too (if you’re a writer, don’t forget to add the subscriber and member links at the bottom of your posts! And add a link to a list or another story you’ve written, too!).
Part of that means I’ll be adding new content there.
But I’ll also be working on the newsletter (once you follow, you can also subscribe by email) and being more regular with it. I want to send out a newsletter to subscribers once a week. I’m thinking that each week will have a theme and a top list. Top viewed posts, tops posts that need more love, top posts about hotwives, top posts about outdoor sex, etc. I’ll draw attention to old posts sometimes and other times to new posts. Ultimately, I want to make sure all the writers on Quick & Dirty get some attention in the newsletters so the subscribers can find new writers to follow.
#2 New longer stories
Longer stories on Medium are different than longer stories on Amazon, that’s for sure. But longer stories on Medium are something I can handle.
I’m probably never going to be “niche” like some writers are but I will always have a love for threesome stories and hotwife stories. Of course, I love a little lesbian loving, too! So, ya, there’s always going to be variety.
I’ll publish some of them on Free Erotica Stories, first; then here.
#3 New non-fiction
I still have so many ideas, experiences, and information I want to share! My non-fiction has never done as well on Medium as my fiction does but sometimes I feel the need to just speak the truth, ya know?
I have a new blog I’m working on. We Swive focuses on the 40+ year old woman and her sex life and I’ll be creating new posts for it.
#4 What’s with the re-publishing?
Not everyone has a Medium account. And not everyone wants to.
Sure, I see the benefits of paying to read without advertising. But not everyone does.
So, Free Erotica Stories and We Swive just gives readers more options. If you don’t want to pay to read and don’t mind the ads, then readers can read there.
Plus, publishing on my own sites gives me more control over my own writing. Just in case someday I can’t publish here. You never know what will happen in the future, even though our new CEO has said that he doesn’t plan on removing erotica/sex content on Medium (read the comments for Stubblebine’s comment).
What can I say? I’m a little bit of a pessimist when it comes to writing on sites I don’t own. I’ve seen residual income writing sites crash and burn over night!
#5 Non-adult writing and making money
I think it is a vanity thing but I really want to publish and write and make money under my real name (I’m pretty transparent about the fact that this is a pen name but Autumn Seave is just as much “me” as my real name!). And for me, that means non-adult type of stuff.
I’m going to continue writing on Medium under my real name (even though I make so much less money on that account compared to this one) but I’m also thinking about writing some fiction for ebooks. I’ve been doing some research and I might have found a sub-genre that I can enjoy writing in.
I’m actually working on developing a brand around my real name for the first time in many years.
So, that’s where I am. Planning on planning to write.
