Avalanche-X has received hundreds of applications to date, ranging from general proposals to specific grants highlighting clear opportunities to build revolutionary decentralized projects that leverage Avalanche’s high transaction throughput, near-instant finality, and low transaction fees.
Proposals aren’t just limited to decentralized applications either. Large traditional financial institutions, telecommunications conglomerates, and fintech companies make up a large proportion of the applicant pool and have been particularly interested in Avalanche’s subnets.
Subnets are dynamic sets of validators working together to achieve consensus on blockchains customized at the protocol level. Subnets allow for the creation of permissioned blockchain networks, oftentimes a necessity for large enterprises as they need control over the data and execution of applications on their blockchain-enabled networks.
Avalanche-X grant recipients undergo a stringent review process. And to celebrate and champion those that made it this far, we will continue to highlight those recipients in our quarterly updates. Today, we’re excited to share our Q3 2020: Avalanche-X Grants.
As we did a few months ago when we first started the grants program, we are excited to share the newest applications and ecosystem tools that will continue to build out the solutions on Avalanche–available to the world. While some of these projects have already completed their grants, we’re looking forward to those just nearing the end of their work. Here are the leading grants from this quarter:
- Avascan — an independent blockchain explorer that enables users to browse blockchains, transactions, validators, delegators, assets, and smart contracts on Avalanche. Avascan launched late last month and is avidly used by the wider-Avalanche community.
- VScout — an independent blockchain explorer for Avalanche, with a specific focus on validators and delegators staking on Avalanche
- aBlock — a small but mighty team building an AVAX tip bot for Avalanche; soon, Avalanche community members will be able to directly share their appreciation for others’ contributions using AVAX.
- Magic (formerly Fortmatic) — Magic allows applications to enable passwordless authentication using magic links. Users only need to sign up, click on the magic link in their email inbox, and they’re then securely logged into the application. The Magic SDK will support Avalanche, allowing for developers to provide seamless, passwordless logins on Avalanche applications.
- Halborn — an award-winning, ethical hackers that work with blockchain projects to defend against cyber attacks. The team at Halborn enhanced the security of the Avalanche Wallet.
- Tesseract — Developing an SDK for Avalanche for Swift, a powerful programming language for iOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS. Once the SDK is live, developers will be able to build Avalanche-powered applications on all Apple operating systems.
