We are now on Challenge II of the Denali Incentivized Testnet. There’s a new client release that implements a variety of optimization, which speeds up the system and fixes usability issues. Everyone needs to update their nodes to Gecko v0.5.5 to take advantage of these improvements. To qualify for the incentives, participants have 36 hours from 12pm EST (4pm UTC) to upgrade their nodes in order to complete Challenge II.
This can be done in just five steps:
- Go here: https://github.com/ava-labs/gecko/releases
- Download the Denali 0.5.5 release
- Extract the Denali 0.5.5 tar.gz or zip file
- Replace your existing 0.5.5 release with the newly extracted binary
- Run the node as you normally would
Challenge III initially required validators to maintain an uptime of 50% during the entire Incentivized Testnet period. We have heard the community’s feedback and are lowering the validator uptime requirement from 180 hours (50%) to 108 hours (30%).
The amount of excitement we’ve seen for this testnet is a testament to the community we all share, and Avalanche’s vision to build the internet of finance. It is unprecedented for a testnet to have over 900 validator nodes actively participating in consensus and block creation in less than a week after launch.
