AVAXMAP is a service that gives insight to the Avalanche network through various tools and visualizations.

During the testnet incentive program, Avalanche testnet validators reached and surpassed the one thousand milestone set for the program, it had people wondering who and where these validators are located.

What started out as curiosity will now be one of the services Protocoh will be launching on the Avalanche blockchain.

Avaxmap currently runs queries every 10 minutes to get the total number of validators on the network, it also gets the list of peers on the network (validating and non validating nodes on the network). Sort the list by ip and get a geo location for each node id and visualizes it on a map for you to see.

Interesting facts so far as of 24th of July 2020

  • Some nodes are still running gecko versions as far back as avalanche 0.5.0
  • There have been at least 1 node in all continents on earth except Antarctica.
  • European Continent has the most nodes per continent.
  • Ohio - USA has the most number of peers (state/country).

What next.

We would be adding more futures down the line which includes total tx, number of token, organizations, total wallet count on the network. It mostly depends on what data we can get from the network.
