On the vision of St. Dominic in heaven:

The vision of St. Dominic of heaven where he saw members of all other religious orders except the Order of Preachers (Dominicans).

He began to weep.

Our Lord asked him why he was weeping.

Our Holy Father St. Dominic told him that it was because he could not see any of his children there in heaven.

Our Lord motioned to his mother, she opened her beautiful blue mantle and Dominic saw under her mantle a multitude of Dominicans!

The Dominicans are under the maternal care of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

On Dominic’s devotion to the Blessed Vigin Mary and the Dominican habit:

St. Dominic was specially devoted to her and used to pray for long periods before the altar. We are told that one of the ways of his prayers was to say one Hail Mary after another and as he did so, he would genuflect at each one.
