This is the 9th church in this first series featuring Dominican built churches in the Philippines.

Each church featured has a short description pertinent to its construction and life thereafter.

The oil-on-canvass paintings featuring each church were commissioned to Filipino artist Eddie Sarmiento who unfortunately passed away this July 3, 2020.

These paintings may be viewed at Cafe Inggo 1587 located within the premises of Sto. Domingo Church, Quezon City, Philippines.

Ninth Church:

Santo Domingo Church — Quezon City

With the Intramuros site in ruins as brought about by the war, the Dominicans decided to build the sixth iteration of the church a little to the north of the Walled City.

It was timely that Quezon City was a newly-established city in 1949, and a newly-proclaimed capital of the Philippines.

The task of constructing the new church fell into the hands of University of Santo Tomas alumnus Architect Jose Maria Zaragoza, blending the traditional Spanish style…
