An Overview of The Aventus Network, Aventus Foundation & Aventus Services

Aventus Network

The Aventus Network belongs to the new generation of composable blockchain networks built for scalability and interoperability.

The Aventus Network has long been decentralised. The majority of transaction processors are run by independent third parties including GABI Ventures, Coinshares, 100 Acre Ventures, Imperial College London and Scytale Ventures.

In May 2024, a governance vote was held and passed enabling any AVT token holder to publish governance proposals for voting by the rest of the AVT community (more details here). As a result, the AVT community now has full control and responsibility over the distribution of community treasury, which can be seen on Ethereum here (about $7 million at the time of writing). This treasury contains AVT, which can be spent on anything, and VOW, which requires approval from the VOW ecosystem for mutually beneficial purposes.

This means the AVT community is in control of putting forward plans for any major decisions around the Aventus Network and AVT token, including (but not limited to):

• Exchange listings of AVT
• Marketing activities and influencer partnerships
• Updates to AVT tokenomics
• Major Aventus Network upgrades
• Amending network parameters

Aventus Foundation

The Aventus Foundation was set up in 2017 with the sole purpose of managing the Aventus Ecosystem — specifically delivering the original whitepaper, updating it over time and distributing proceeds of the AVT initial coin offering in line with the best interests of the community.

It also manages the open-source intellectual property of the Aventus Network. Until May 2024, the Aventus Foundation was responsible for putting forward governance proposals for major decisions around the Aventus Network and AVT token for the AVT community to vote on. Today, any AVT token holder can put forward a governance proposal for voting. The ecosystem is now fully in the hands of the community and thus the Aventus Foundation is shutting down.

Aventus Services

Aventus Services was established as a for-profit company. Its goal is to drive adoption of the Aventus technology (similar to what Parity Technologies does for Polkadot or Consensys does for Ethereum). Aventus Services has received grants in the past from the Aventus Foundation to deliver certain services, such as managing social platforms, developing features of the Aventus Network (such as the lifting and lowering dApps) and building other infrastructure in the ecosystem. These deliverables were technically audited by independent third parties on a quarterly basis.

However, the key for Aventus Services has always been to generate revenue and become self-sustaining through its services and products to be able to be a perpetual source of demand for the Aventus ecosystem and beyond.

Aventus Services is one user of the Aventus Network, and has driven a number of deals to the Network (e.g. Enigmatic Smile, Beatport etc.), but is independent of the Aventus Foundation and Aventus Network, and has a variety of revenue sources (e.g. Energy Web, which uses the open-source Aventus Network infrastructure and some bespoke services).
